No More Promotions for failing NHS Bosses

Dear Jenny and Mr. Lansley,

Our first submission to you 18/6/10 involved the scandalous case of KATE LEVY, the (another) NHS Boss who tried to cover up John Moore Robinson's death: http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/NHS-boss-accused-cover-Leicester-man-s-death-report/article-1759213-detail/article.html Ms. Levy was sacked after £40.000 from the Public purse was spent on an Independent Inquiry. (We were hoping that her dismissal was not just a 'show case" sacking!)

The Family of John were angry at the waste of public funds as they had still not received answers about why their son had had such shoddy treatment at an NHS Hopstial which lead to his death: http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/news/Angry-parents-brand-hospital-probe-waste/article-1865587-detail/article.html

However Janet and Frank Robinson are now devasted that KATE LEVY is set to appeal: http://www.staffordshirenewsletter.co.uk/News/Cover-up-sacked-boss-to-appeal.htm

We the 134 members of the NHS Reform Group would like to know if Ms. Levy, will be using her own money to fund her appeal, or if once again her right to appeal will cost the UK Taxpayer?

You should also be aware that at the time of the Mid Staffs disaster, the Head of Nursing was Helen Moss who was critised in the Robert Francis Inquiry as it was said "SHE WAS NOT ADEQUATELY TRAINED FOR THE POST". The NHS Reform Group is concerned that Ms. Moss was 'moved sideways from the Mid Staffs Trust to the East Midlands Strategic Health Authority.
Janet and Frank think this is another example of 'reward for failure'.

The NHS Reform Group note that this has been the accepted norm in as much as when an NHS Boss is bad at their job, they don't get the sack BUT they get promoted.

i.e. Cynthia Bower, Failing NHS Boss at the filthy Stafford NHS Hospital where up to 1,200 patients died in "appalling" care, was promoted to a new job - as CE at a top NHS Health WATCHDOG - the CQC ! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article2327967.ece

i.e. David Fillingham, twice failing NHS Boss, first at North Staffordshire and then at Royal Bolton Hospitals, then get's his 'pat on the back" by being promoted to CEO to the recently set up "Advancing Quality Alliance" (AQuA) within NHS Northwest SHA - NHS North West Strategic Health Authority.

We at the NHS Reform Group are hoping that the Coalition will stop this practice that is showing the NHS at least to be nothing more than an 'Old Boys Network'.

We look forward to your comments to our Group.

Kind Regards,

The NHS Reform Group
