Dear Jenny,
Our first point of concern is in connection with the length's that the NHS Managers and administrators will go to in order to cover up serious failings and errors.
Our concerns are that we 126 people from all over the UK have found that 'cover up" is institutional throughout the NHS.
When the NHS has made a serious mistake, the 'cover up" technique swings into force.2. Concerns over Department of Health Comments to the PressOur Group the NHS Reform Group, have been studying comments made to the Press regarding Mid Staffs.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/5722853/Hospital-failures-like-Mid-Staffordshire-scandal-could-be-repeated-say-MPs.htmlOur concerns are many in as much as the D. o Health state "
While this was an awful case, it was highly unusual that such poor quality care and patient complaints could go undetected in the NHS for so long and we will make sure that this cannot happen again".We are VERY perplexed by this statement, as ALL of us members of the NHS Reform Group have stories to tell of poor quality care and a failing complaints system throughout the NHS and throughout the UK! Indeed in my own case, my Father - Case No. 6 in the Patients Association Report which relates to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals sits along side that of Bella Bailey - Case No. 5 in the PA Report and the mother of Julie Bailey of 'Cure the NHS'.Regarding Mid Staffs, we feel to a large extent, because of Julie's efforts and the fact that she could form 'Cure the NHS" with a large number of relatives connected with the same NHS Hospital, this has had a great impact on the Press and the Coalition who, rightly, now are highlighting these NHS failings. However this tale of 'poor quality care and patients complaints" is widespread. for example Mr. Miguel Cubells and Mr. Paul Hightons Hospital, Wrightington Wigan and Leigh has a VERY high unexpected death rate and both these gentlemen have found it necessary to create websites to highlight the failings that they personally have experienced:www.wrightingtonwiganandleighexposed.co.uk + http://russellhighton.yolasite.com/blog.php Both these gentlemen have also experienced 'cover up'.Another member Mrs. Dee Speers would like to comment about West London Mental Health Trust, Sussex Partnership Trust and South Essex Partnership Trust. WLMHT had two damning reports published. Mrs. Speers says "WLMHT failed to investigate my son's death, failed to inform the police, failed to inform the Mental Health Commission, failed to submit key documents for the Inquest hearing and some of these have since been altered. This CEO of WLMHT failed to alert the SHA but 'jumped ship', just before publication of the Report and is currently working for the SHA on full CEO salary".I know that on reading this email, that I will forward to the members - obliterating your email address Jenny, as you are concerned that your 'Inbox" will become saturated - I will receive comments about how 'my story is just the same or worse" as the ones quoted and I am so sorry that I cannot list every single case in this email, but I hope that you can appreciate every one's frustration when we have been 'fobbed off', especially as we are paying for it all!I look forward to speaking to you next week and look forward to a reply regarding our concerns about endemic
'poor quality care and patients complaints'.Kind Regards,The NHS Reform Group
